What to do in Charleston
Charleston is known for it’s fabulous beaches. Kathryn and Hal frequent Sullivan’s Island for long, romantic walks on the beach. Just kidding. They do enjoy Home Team BBQ, drinks at Mex One, and pizza at the Obstinate Daughter. Go to Fish Camp for a good burger and the best Key Lime Pie in town.
Other Charleston beaches include, Isle of Palms and Folly Beach. Visit Papi’s on IOP for great Mexican and Chico Feo’s on Folly for their famous Samurai Sling (cucumber saki and lemonade).
All Charleston beaches offer plenty of restaurants and shops with free parking.
There’s always something to buy…in Charleston. Check out some of Kathryn's favorite stores including, Nette, located downtown Charleston and, Elizabeth Stuart Design and GDC in Mount Pleasant.
Visit King Street for mens ware explore Dumas (tell George Hal says Hi!) and Grady Irvin. Other favorite’s include, Veronica Beard, Hampton, Jenni Kayne, Croghans, Julia Amory, Sezane (coming soon!), Hampden Clothing, and more!
Charleston holds a special place in Kathryn and Hal’s hearts, not only because that’s where they met, but because there are so many great things to do.
Kathryn and Hal enjoy playing “tourist” in their own city by walking through Charleston City Market, Rainbow Row, Pineapple Fountain, to name a few. Hampton Park, Magnolia Plantation and Pitt Street Bridge are great to explore as well.
Walking the Ravenel Bridge and seeing all the animals at the South Carolina Aquarium are a must!
A classic way to get a quick and broad overview of Charleston is a horse tour. Carriage Tours are a popular option in Charleston; especially for tired feet. There are a few different companies who offer carriage tours but they all offer similar options and understanding exactly what to know before taking a Charleston Carriage tour is important.
Some routes might highlight areas like the Historic Market, Rainbow Row, or The Battery, while others focus on churches, gardens, and hidden gems.
